Building New Opportunities for Senior Women
(January–February 2018)
In January and February 2018, Being A Woman successfully conducted a specialized handicraft training program for 50 senior women belonging to marginalized communities. The initiative was designed to equip them with practical skills that can lead to job readiness and economic independence.
Program Highlights
- Focused on imparting craft techniques tailored to the interests and abilities of senior women.
- Created a supportive and empowering environment fostering skill mastery and confidence.
- Delivered hands-on training resulting in at least 15 participants acquiring job-ready skills by the end of the program.
Impact and Importance
This program not only enhanced the livelihood prospects of senior women but also contributed to improved self-esteem and social inclusion. By enabling older women to actively contribute economically, the training helps break cycles of poverty and marginalization while celebrating their talents.
Why Skill Development Matters for Senior Women
Many senior women in underserved communities face limited opportunities for economic engagement. Focused skill-building programs such as this play a crucial role in empowering them to maintain financial independence and dignity, supporting themselves and their families.
