February–March 2018 Impact Report
In the early months of 2018, Being A Woman launched an ambitious fundraising campaign to realize the vision of Maulana Azad School for socially excluded and special needs children. The campaign saw a vibrant street march involving students and community members—raising both awareness and hope across the neighborhood.
Reaching Out, Building Bridges
Our dedicated volunteers and team worked tirelessly:
- Distributing appeal letters and handbills to local residents, businesses, and foundations.
- Personally reaching out to corporations and grant-making organizations with detailed proposals.
- Engaging the community through in-person events and advocacy efforts.
These cumulative efforts underscored our commitment to building a better future for vulnerable children in the area.

A turning point came when the esteemed Lal Family Foundation responded to our appeal. Their willingness to consider our project and provide support brought renewed optimism, allowing us to take essential steps toward the opening of Maulana Azad School. Their partnership exemplifies the power of philanthropy in transforming lives and advancing social progress.
Sight Restored: Health Impact
In addition to the fundraising momentum, our partnership with Al-Shifa Multi-Speciality Hospital enabled four local cataract patients to receive free, sight-restoring surgeries in March 2018. For these individuals and their families, this intervention represented not just medical relief but a restoration of hope and dignity.
Moving Forward, Together
The months of February and March 2018 were a testament to what is possible through community action, persistent advocacy, and generous support. Whether rallying in the streets or restoring vision for those in need, the spirit of Being A Woman and its partners lit the path toward inclusion, health, and education for all.
