Community Health Camp: Bringing Quality Healthcare to the Doorstep
In April 2017, Being A Woman took a significant step toward inclusive wellness by organizing its very first community health camp in collaboration with Al-Shifa Multi-Speciality Hospital, Abul Fazal Enclave-I, Jamia Nagar, New Delhi. The event marked a new beginning in our drive to deliver accessible health services to the underserved women and families of the area.
Free Eye Check-Ups for All
The centrepiece of this camp was a comprehensive eye care program:
- Over 320 patients received free eye check-ups and screenings from qualified specialists.
- For those in need, both medicines and spectacles were distributed completely free of charge, removing financial barriers to essential eye health.
Expanding the Scope: Kidney, Urology, and Nephrology Care
Understanding that community health goes beyond vision, we extended specialised care through:
- Free consultations and screenings for kidney, urology, and nephrology conditions.
- Dozens of patients benefitted from expert medical assessments—at zero cost—who otherwise might not have had access to such critical care.
Impact and Gratitude
This landmark event not only provided tangible medical relief but also seeded trust and hope among the local population. For many families, it was the first time such specialized, cost-free healthcare had been available so close to home. The smiles, gratitude, and renewed energy we witnessed affirmed our mission and inspired further action.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Al-Shifa Multi-Speciality Hospital for their support and expertise, and to all volunteers and supporters who helped bring this vision to life.
Together, we are making quality health care a reality for all—one camp, one patient, one family at a time.
