Advancing Community Health: Pediatric, Gynaecology Camp & Awareness Seminars

June–July 2017 Event Update

Health Camps and Education: Supporting Women and Children

In June and July 2017, Being A Woman continued its commitment to holistic community health by hosting a free medical camp focused on pediatric and gynaecology consultations, alongside impactful seminars on diet, lifestyle, and breastfeeding—thanks to the ongoing partnership with Al-Shifa Multi-Speciality Hospital.

Pediatric & Gynaecology Camp

Nearly 90 patients—children and women from underprivileged backgrounds—received comprehensive medical check-ups and consultations. Pediatric specialists ensured children were assessed for growth and developmental concerns, while women consulted experienced gynaecologists about essential reproductive and maternal health matters. For many, this was the first accessible opportunity for such specialized care.

Seminar on Diet and Lifestyle

Recognizing the direct link between education and health outcomes, a dedicated seminar on diet and healthy lifestyle practices was also held. About 90 community members, including mothers and caregivers, participated, gaining practical knowledge about nutrition, physical activity, and preventive habits.

Breastfeeding Awareness Seminar

In addition, a focused breastfeeding seminar gathered 55 women to discuss the vital importance of exclusive breastfeeding for infant health. Participants learned best practices, overcame common misconceptions, and received encouragement for nurturing new life.

Attendees came with a myriad of questions, ranging from dietary plans for different age groups, tips for managing lifestyle diseases, to guidelines for balanced meals amid busy routines. Both Ms. Zohra and Ms. Saba addressed each query thoughtfully, providing actionable answers rooted in science and compassion. Their expertise reassured participants, who expressed satisfaction and newfound motivation to implement positive changes in their daily lives.

The interactive nature of the seminar fostered an open space for sharing experiences and encouraged everyone to prioritize their well-being. Many attendees remarked on the clarity of information and the approachable manner of the experts, making the session both enjoyable and informative.

Such collaborations reflect “Being A Woman’s” ongoing commitment to empowering communities through knowledge and practical health guidance. By joining hands with Alshifa Multi-Speciality Hospital, the NGO underscores the vital role of awareness events in not only answering questions but also in inspiring change.

Takeaway: The successful seminar marks another step toward healthier, happier lives—reminding us all that lasting well-being begins with the right knowledge and support.

Building a Healthier Community Together

These combined initiatives not only provided immediate care to dozens of families but also empowered community members with the knowledge needed for lifelong wellness. Feedback from attendees highlighted greater confidence in managing their health and that of their children, emphasizing the value of accessible, compassionate education.

Being A Woman and Al-Shifa Multi-Speciality Hospital remain dedicated to bridging healthcare gaps—one camp, one seminar, and one empowered family at a time.
